213 exposed

.....yeah......

the middle east and other random thoughts

arent they so cute?

My middle east class fascinates me. Ask my room mates. I might have made a diagram of Abraham and Isaac and Ishmael the other night. I might make another tonight. Who would have thought I love the Islams so much? But seriously guys did you know Ishmael had 12 sons too?

I only have one class with more than two boys in it. (Meaning the rest have about 50 girls and 2 married men). So the odds of me pulling out a tampon instead of a pen during mission prep class are against me right?  Wrong. Of course I pull the sucker out in front of some 40 pre-mi boys.

There are these huge huge bugs in Rexburg I only see on the track. I might pretend they are coming after me while running. Except on Saturday there was a dead one and every loop it freaked me out. I'll have to take a photo of one. You have to see to believe people!

coconut m&m's are bomb diggity. They have palm trees on them and I pretend they're my own personal paradise every time.

Guess what? I'm blogging. In class. Boo-ya.

I bought my Halloween costume for my half marathon. I might be really excited about it too.

I turn 21 on Saturday! I am still trying to come up with what to do...Except I know for sure I am making myself an angel food cake and eating it too.

Homework should always be done with chocolate, Enya, and the shoes off the feet.

old people.

Have you seen this yet?

I'm pretty sure it's my parents in 20 years.
If you don't believe me....evidence. right. here.

Please excuse my bored face.
You should know though that the conversation going on in this photo is completely serious.
And that my dad wouldn't stop making faces like this throughout the entire conversation.
oh my life is awesome.

just one of those moments

This week was an emotional one.
That's to say the least.
I might have cried every day, at least twice.
In fact, I cried while at work talking to a man on the phone about his Honda. There was nothing emotional about the call, just that the entire day  week I had been a wreck.

I promise this is not THEE dress.

But this moment?
This moment brought my emotional wreck-ness to an entirely new level.
As we sat and told our opinions on dresses I couldn't help but remember this moment.

Life is so unexpected. So completely unexpected and yet,
as we sat there and she tried on dress after dress I couldn't help but feel like this is how life is suppose to be going. This is how life was always suppose to go and just now am I finally realizing it.

Maria was stunning in everything she tried on.
Every dress seemed to work well and look great on her. (there was one that was better than the rest) But the best part of all the dresses?

They were modest.
Because well, Maria is getting married in the temple.
and what could possibly be better than that?

reason why i love blackwill #2

Saturday night we had girls night.
It was the boy's idea.

We got pizzas at Domino's for a discounted price, the boys decided we should buy ice cream
yeah. they decided we needed ice cream.
And then we came home, ate pizza and ice cream and made cookies whilst watching Steve shave his face . And then we watched  t.v. shows on mute and spoke for the actors

Other reasons we love them?

These are Steve's feet. Yeah. He let us paint his toe nails a few days ago. And they're still this color.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

can I just tell you how much I love classes I can bring my computer into?
As an El Ed major most classes don't let us.
But my Middle East class does.

cue Madison sitting in a dictator seat planning on ruling the world while surfing the web DURING CLASS.
It's kind of the same thing, no?

Also, 10 days till my birthday.
You're probably not as excited as me... but this is what I plan on getting for this joyous occasion.

love letters

Dear little sister,
you are so dang cute.
p.s. I haven't been avoiding you. Our schedules this semester hate each other.

Dear school schedule,
I actually do love you. Despite the fact that I can't ever talk to said above sister.

Dear girls running around the track,
nice job tonight. You made me feel like a million bucks because despite my really slow pace, I lapped you like seven times.

Dear Dilly Bar from DQ,
mmmmmm.

Dear math class,
I am so confused.

Dear Ukulele owned by my neighbor,
Can I steal you?? We'd be best friends.

Dear freshman-18-year-old-boy,
oi. First of all you are the same age as my sister.
Second of all you are too attractive to be a pre-mi

Dear roommates,
we are going to have a rockin semester.

a decision.

As I sat in church, a few thoughts ran through my mind.
I began to ponder where my life has been in the past.
What I've accomplished and what I have yet to accomplish in my life.
I began to wonder where the next year would take me and then where I want to be at the end of my life.

And then this light came to me and sank into my heart, where it'll reside for quite some time.
But I'll tell you one thing...I am planning on running with it.

cliff hanger? yes.

soul mates

We, as latter day saint single adults have been told many a times
there is no such thing as a soul mate.

But to be completely honest, I don't believe this. I never have. Because well, you know what?
I have one, and have had one since I was born.
Her name is Amanda, but since childhood I've called her Man.

umm yes. this is side ways. NO. It won't flip. Yes, I'm mad about it.

Man and I are born 1 year, 12 days apart from each other. Please note that I am an entire year younger than her and she's the one in the walker.

So yeah, we grew up together.
And people said it wouldn't last. That we'd eventually grow apart.

But we stayed strong, us two crazies.
And then Man moved to Utah for school while I was stuck in High School.
And people said it wouldn't last. And that she would find new friends.

But we stayed in touch, even with the miles and miles between us.
And then I went to college. In Idaho.
And then we decided to be crazies and live together for my off track.
So of course, people thought we were idiots. And that it wouldn't last.
and that our friendship would go down the drain.

some day I will tell the story behind this picture. It has to do with lice. and skype. Rermind me? It's a fabulous story.
But instead, we just became crazier friends.
And people thought we were sisters. We didn't see it...

So cheers to you Man,
Happy 22nd year of life.
May this year bring great fun, a good grad school and handsome men.

We made a deal ages ago; Men, babies, doesn't matter. We're soul mates.

awkward and awesome thursday

oh yeah. I went there. Mayb's not all the time, but I have some this week.

Awkward:

-Sleeping in Elisabeth's car in the Carriage house parking lot before check-ins....and having mom's look at you like you're a crazy.
-People asking what semester this is for you and stopping for more than a minute to count them.
-The toilet flushing three times while I was still peeing. Umm...excuse me toilet, not done!
-Having a pre-mi ask you out and having to tell him you're almost 21...
-Calling a number at work and having the man on the other end tell me that the person I was calling for passed away last week in Afganistan. What do you saaaay??
-Tripping up the stairs. Multiple times. On the same stairwell.
-Seeing ex boyfriends...and their wives....oh heeey, member how I was the last girl you kissed before you married her? Yeah I'm pretty sure I said AWKWARD out loud that time.

Awesome:

-Text books being only $170 this semester-score!
-Seeing a friend and having him tell me my hair smells good.
-My all girl class Monday mornings...yeah I don't get ready.
-My schedule this semester.
-The amount of calories I've burned this week already. Oh yeah two hours of the gym every day.
-Having Professors tell you your comment was quite profound at the end of class.
-The fact that tomorrow is Friiiiiiiidaaaay!

And. I. Love. It.
Also, this might be my new inspiration in life...just maybe...

Roadtrip California

disclaimer: this post is looooong. You've been warned.

On our last day in California, we roadtripped to San Francisco.
It took many hours of traffic and dollars on the toll bridges, but it was so worth it. The city was incredible.

Our first stop was the Golden Gate Bridge....
We had been stuck in the car for so long patience was dimming.
We also had no idea how to get to the bridge, and with three grown men ego's in the way, we were NOT asking for directions. Thank goodness they actually do have senses of direction and we found our way there after a few stops....

We walked across the bridge (okay only about half way. The thing is huge!)
We then drove back down the bridge, paid the ridiculous $6 it is to cross it, and were off to Chinatown.

Chinatown was fun to walk through, but after almost seven hours of not eating, we. were. hungry.
Thus began the search for a place to eat.
We found a little restaurant off the main strip and it did not disappoint.
maybe because we were the only non-Asians in there.

Funny story: they didn't speak much English. We had to just tell them numbers on the menu to order.
Also, they brought out this warm tea that I swear looked like warmed up urine.
Lindsey and I tried it for the experience...umm. yeah. It tasted like warmed up urine too.

Next on our list was Fisherman's Warf:

Cory got hit on by a man trying to raise money for Harti Krishna.

We then went to Pier 39, saw the Pacific ocean (It was Elisabeth's first time).
The boys ran up to the sports store and us girls went to Boudin.  The woman that helped us out was from Russia and couldn't understand that we were not from California. No, no IDEEEEHOOOO. Yeah, she didn't get it. But she did know where it was at with the cookies.
Holy smokies they had the best white chocolate macadamia nut cookie everrr.

We then got smart, got a map from the Burger King and drove to Lombard Street.

Oh you could say it was a curvaceous road indeed.
We then drove to Zack's mission and dropped him off for some delicious Mexican food.
We were really wishing we were Zack until...

Oh yeah. Perfect way to end the day I tell you.
