MONDAY - August 12, 2013

nova cidade and acai day

Dear Família,

I should let you all know this week was fabulous. Say fabulous with your mouth extra wide on the ``a`` (faaaaabulous). And I exerted all my energy for the week trying to open my eyes this morning when the alarm went off. It was like death rolled over i tell you.

I have yet to write about the area i am serving in. Our area is famous in the mission because it is the smallest area. Not even kidding it is the tiniest little area that belongs in utah because i am doubting still that there are 300 people that live within the roads of our area. (wow english fail).

My first week here we had 7 men in church and about 30 women. 7 men including Bishop and his conselers. yeah. It is a ward that is smaller than the branch in the stake. They tell me at one point antiently, the ward was the strongest in the stake...but after many years, people moved away and left the church... and now? It is a sad little group of saints meeting together. So of course, after years of having just elders here, the sisters come in. And its like that moment in harry potter when the girls from the academy come for the goblet of fire.

i can say that because it wasnt me who opened, i came 2 weeks later.

Anyways, yesterday I counted 19 men in sacrament meeting. We are coming out with the big guns and reactivating families. And it is incredible what the Lord is doing in Nova Cidade. Bishop has never been happier.

On a completely different note, i thought i would tell Kaohi and Matthew and any other prospective brasillian missionary that when they get off the plane they MUST walk straightaway to a shop that sells açaí. (more or less ass-i-ee) Because it will change their lives. For reals people, I eat the stuff every monday.

Açaí is almost ice cream, but much better. its made from a berry from the north and you eat it with banana on top and granola and leite em pó (i have no idea how to describe or write leite em pó because it translates to milk in dust)...anyways, it is bomb.com and should be sold in north america already. When you put the goodness in your mouth its like your taste buds are doing the halalujah chorus and that one football player from the broncos doing his victory dance and michael jackson singing thriller all together in one. P-day is not called p-day when you are sister mad´s companion. We call p-day açaí day. And we buy 400ml of açaí with leite em pó and granola. And it is a party.

Seriously considering moving to brasil for the rest of my life to eat açaí daily,
sister mad
