a few random thoughts for your monday
dear blog readers,
I am yet again without words for this monday. It feels like the week flew by- we were in our area monday and tuesday, then had conferences wednesday and took a bus to BH, then Contagem where we slept on the floor (dont worry, it wasnt cold or anything), and then did splits with the sisters. Friday we had more conferences and then saturday another split, landing in our area in sete lagoas around 10 at night (it is a party i tell you).
The most incredible part is how fast the week just flies by and how i have no time to think about anything. really we just kind of run around with our heads cut off all week until saturday and then we are literally laughing silly on the bus ride home. I am rambling, so i will make my letter short.
First-God gave man two ears, two eyes and one mouth. Listen and see twice as much as you talk.
So if you have ever known sister mad, you will know she talks your head off. I have been working a lot lately on just listening. And you know what? It is incredible what people tell you when you start a conversation off with how are you? and then just listen. People-they will spill all their life´s desires and all their innermost secrets when you keep your mouth shut.
Second, we were teaching a family this past week that just wasnt getting it. They were so close to feeling the spirit, i could feel it in my bones, filling me up and the father was sitting on the other side of the room shaking his head in denial. Thats just about when i was filled to the brim and started talking really fast, perfect Portugues. (I can say that because i was with sister t. silva and she told me it was flawless, without an accent). I told the man that before we had entered his home he had been praying for God to show him the right path for him and his family. That we had arrived just after he had finished that prayer and then i questioned him why-why are you not understanding we are the answer to your prayer?
He was very quiet for a few moments and we left their home with an invitation for them to visit the church on Sunday. Sister T. Silva told me yesterday they didnt go, however the father called them wanting to meet with them again.
Third, do you remember almost a year ago when Carlos got baptized? I recieved photos from him this past week of his family all dressed up for church. They will be sealed in January.
Mission work and the blessings that come from it are just the best arent they?
i love you all so much!
